Fill the filter media cup with ceramic media, carbon, GFO, or any other filter media you desire.

The slots in the bottom half of the cup force water to flow downward through your media before it can exit freely.

With the included media bag, you can manipulate your aquarium water to pass through a wide variety of media, whether it’s carbon to help remove any toxins or yellowish pigments in the water, GFO to help remove phosphates or simply a biological substrate.

The filter media cup is an ideal and cost-effective substitute for filter socks. If all you want is to polish the water of freely floating particles, then placing a few handfuls of filter floss in the cup is all you need to do; simply replace the dirty pads every few days.
